A charming mix of songs, ballads, soul, folklore and schlager
Early in the evening the sold-out concert started. The concert had an intimate nature. The approximately 600 guests consisted mainly of family, friends and loyal fans. Enno von Ruffin welcomed everyone and announced Vicky.
Surrounded by rotating cameras, many flashbulbs and a enthusiastic applause Vicky climbed the podium. The audience celebrated her from beginning to end, with many standing ovations...
Vicky enjoyed enormously. She marked her special relationship with Gut Basthorst and its inhabitants; it was a real home concert. At the first strains of "Apres toi", her winning Eurovision classic from 1972, Vicky showed that her voice was in a very excellent shape. Because Vicky was singing in a smaller hall, they put the acoustics of the speakers on a lower lever, what increased the unplugged effect. This sounded great, Vicky's voice doesn’t need any form of backup.
A good mix of ballads followed, from soul, folk to schlager, Vicky controlled all genres perfectly. She also did a mix of songs, just like her jubilee tour of 2006.
Her new songs from “Möge der Himmel”, her latest CD formed the peaks of this concert. "Möge der Himmel," "Und was wird Nun" (Et maintenant) and "Wenn Du jetzt gehst” sound great.
The arrangement of "Möge der Himmel" was slightly changed, the Vicky-house band even had to get used to it. "Wenn Du jetzt gehst" was incredible, a wonderful text and melody!
Vicky's Soul-melodies sounded very good. At the end of "Er hat mir geschrieben" (The Letter) " she let herself go entirely. In her older classics, like "Free Again," "Ich fang ohne dich neu an" and "Ne me quitte pas" she also showed the maximal reach of her beautiful voice. Her Greek medley was also lovely, it always make everyone happy.
She also sung her German hits with a wink, particular Tango d'Amor was performed very funny.
As usual Vicky exchanged once her outfit. Before the break, she was dressed in a long black silk dress, after the break in a short dress with sequins. Spectacular were her black shoes, high gloss with red soles.
After 2.5 hours she ended her concert with a number of encores and the audience thanked her with standing ovations. Remarkably; 'Theo' wasn’t there this time.
