Je hebt bolletjesslikkers en je hebt Jans die de bollen gewoon om haar nek hangt. Zowel heen als terug sloeg de electronische bodyscan vol alarm toen Jans door het douanepoortje liep. Na grondig te zijn gefouilleerd, waarbij de Chinese kralen en nog wat andere bolvormige onderdelen een beurt kregen, mocht ze pas het vliegtuig in. Op de terugweg is de kralenketting in de koffer gesignaleerd, waarna de douane geen risico nam en de ketting door midden knipte. Maar Jans mag dan af en toe wat ondeugend zijn, aan drug smokkelen doet ze niet.
There are balloon swallowers and there is Jans who hangs the balls just around her neck. On the outward flight as well as on the way back the alarm of the electronic body scanner went off when Jans went through customs. After having been searched thoroughly at which the Chinese beads and some other spherical parts were checked, she was allowed into the plane. On the way back the string of beads was spotted in her suitcase. Customs did not take any risk and decided to cut the string to check it. Although Jans may be a bit naughty every now and then she is definitely not a drug smuggler.
Een kamer delen met Jans is volgens Ingeborn een hele ervaring. Jans vindt dat alles van iedereen is en gebruikte dus gewoon Ingeborn’s tandenborstel. Zo is ze nu eenmaal, naar eigen zeggen. Veilig in de toilettas dan maar, dacht Inge, maar Jans claimde ‘s avond alweer ‘haar’ tandenborstel op. Toen is ze ook maar gelijk overgestapt op Inge’s tandpasta. Toch groeide uit de rare combi van stoere zeekanoër Inge en Rond, Blond en Gezellig een warme vriendschap.
Sharing a room with Jans is quite an experience according to Ingeborn. Jans holds the opinion that everything belongs to everyone so she just used Ingeborn’s toothbrush. “That’s the way I am”, are her own words. Well then safely tucked into the toilet bag, Ingeborn thought, but at night Jans just claimed toothbrush again. And at the same time she started to use Inge’s toothpaste. Nevertheless out of this strange combination of a sturdy sea canoeist and Round, Blond and Companionable a warm friendship blossomed.
Wie op breivakantie gaat moet tenminste de schijn hoog houden van breien te houden. Jans sloeg zich dus kranig door de workshops heen, maar bood meestal al snel aan om de koffie in te schenken. Erg prettig voor ons, dus volgend jaar mag ze weer mee. Hopelijk raakt ze dan minder vaak zoek, want in Haapsula was ze al snel, samen met Juul, de weg en de groep kwijt. Terwijl er naar haar werd gezocht, kocht ze zich en passant blut aan de Haapsula shawls. Beladen met tasjes, zakjes en een in haar handen zeer gevaarlijke paraplu, werd ze uiteindelijk teruggevonden. Want SMS-en kan ze niet, maar haar mobieltje opnemen gelukkig wel.
When going on a knitting holiday one should at least keep up the appearance of loving knitting. Jans played it well at the workshops, but very often she soon offered to pour the coffee. Very pleasant for us, so yes she can join in next year. Hopefully she won’t get lost as often again then, for in Haapsalu she and Juul soon lost their way and the group. While we were looking for her she went on a shopping spree buying Haapsalu shawls. Loaded with parcels, bags and in one of her hands a very dangerous umbrella she was eventually found again. For she cannot send text messages but fortunately she knows how to answer her cell phone.

Jans, die in op een winderig hoekje haar spullen bij elkaar zoekt, levert trouwens een set hilarische foto’s op. Zelf redde ze zich met twee weggooicameraatjes die ze voor 5 euro had gekocht. Inge viste haar nog een keer nét op tijd uit de tram en op Tallinn airport redde ze haar roomy voor de laatste keer deze vakantie toen ze met zeven kilo overgewicht op het vliegveld verscheen. Zeven complete outfits in de koffer, compleet met vestje, shawltje en reuzeketting, dat wil wel. Inge’s 14 kilo ving het te veel gelukkig volledig af.
As a matter of fact, Jans trying to collect her things at a windy corner, that really provides a hilarious set of photos. She herself made do with two disposable cameras she had bought for 5 euro. Inge got her out of a tram just in time and at Tallinn airport she saved her roomy for the last time this holiday when she arrived at the desk with seven kilos extra weight in her suitcase. Seven entire outfits in her suitcase complete with cardigans, shawls and gigantic necklaces, that will do the trick. Inge’s 14 kilos fortunately solved this problem entirely.
